Activity 2

Day services - the foundation operates a day habilitation program, and an on-site respite program. These programs help people with epilepsy and related conditions, develop independent living skills and social behavior.the day habilitation program is a person-centered program for developmentally disabled individuals 21 years of age and older. The respite program provides an opportunity for individuals to participate in a recreation program and allow their families some time off from care-giving. We were able to provide day habilitation services to 117 individuals and respite services to 10 individuals in 2011.

Activity 3

Clinic services - the specialty clinic provides services for people with developmental disabilities to improve or maintain the quality of their lives. The services are of a habilitative clinical nature to ameliorate or to limit the disabling condition in the least restrictive setting.we provide psychiatric and social work evaluations and therapy, physical, occupational and speech therapy. We also provide neurological and nutritional care in 2011 we served more than 500 people to enable them to enhance and improve the quality of their lives and to help them and their families in coping with epilepsy and other disabilities. We also provide support groups for parents, professionals, children, teens, and adults, and a social club. We recently started a support group for people who speak spanish and a youth council for young adults dealing with seizures. We also provide information and referrals to people looking for assistance and information for medication, physicians, interpersonal, mental health issues, and general support groups. There is no government funding for these groups.
