“Form 990 is first reviewed by the controller and the president. It is then reviewed by the treasurer, the audit committee chair, and the board chair, before being distributed to the board of directors prior to filing.”
“The organization's conflict of interest policy provides that: the existence of any of the interests described in the policy or of like description shall be disclosed on a timely basis and always before any transaction is consummated. It shall be the continuing responsibility of board, officers, and management employees to scrutinize their transactions and outside business interests and relationships for potential conflicts and to immediately make such disclosures. Transactions with related parties may be undertaken only if all of the following are observed: 1. A material transaction is fully disclosed in the audited financial statements of the organization; 2. The related party is excluded from the discussion and approval of such transaction; 3. A competitive bid or comparable valuation exists; and 4. The organization's board has acted upon and demonstrated that the transaction is in the best interest of the organization. Staff disclosures should be made to the chief executive (or, if he or she is the one with the conflict, then to the governance committee), who shall determine whether a conflict exists and is material, and if the matters are material, bring them to the attention of the governance committee. Disclosure involving directors should be made to the governance committee.”
“In order to determine compensation for the chief executive and for key employees, a variety of objective tools are utilized, including survey data specific to our area and industry, comparisons to peer organizations, performance and cost of living.”
“Full financial statements are available on our website. Other documents are available by request.”
“The organization's endowment funds support its programs and operations.”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION:TRICKLE UP IMPLEMENTED OUR CORE GRADUATION MODEL THROUGH LOCAL PARTNERS IN BURKINA FASO, GUATEMALA, NICARAGUA AND INDIA. TRICKLE UP ALSO WORKED WITH GOVERNMENT PARTNERS AT THE MUNICIPAL, STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL TO INCORPORATE THE GRADUATION APPROACH IN THEIR EXISTING POLICY IMPLEMENTATION TO BETTER REACH POOR AND VULNERABLE POPULATIONS. THE GRADUATION MODEL INCLUDES A CAREFULLY SEQUENCED SERIES OF INTERVENTIONS INCLUDING TARGETING THE POOREST FAMILIES, SUPPORTING THEM IN FORMING SELF-HELP GROUPS TO BUILD SAVINGS AND CREDIT, SELECTION OF AN APPROPRIATE LIVELIHOOD ACTIVITY WITH CLOSE AND REGULAR COACHING, AND THE PROVISION OF A SEED CAPITAL GRANT TO BEGIN THE LIVELIHOOD ACTIVITY. TRICKLE UP PROVIDED TRAINING, GRANTS AND SAVINGS SUPPORT TO 1,250 PARTICIPANTS IN BURKINA FASO, TO 1,040 PARTICIPANTS IN GUATEMALA, NICARAGUA AND MEXICO, AND TO 3,333 PARTICIPANTS IN INDIA. ADDITIONALLY IN INDIA, WE PROVIDED TRAINING AND SAVINGS SUPPORT TO 1,800 VERY POOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS. CONSIDERING AN AVERAGE FAMILY SIZE OF FIVE PEOPLE, OUR PROGRAMS WERE ABLE TO REACH OVER 37,115 PEOPLE THEREBY REDUCING THEIR VULNERABILITY, IMPROVING THEIR FOOD SECURITY, AND SUPPORTING THEM IN TAKING THEIR FIRST STEPS OUT OF EXTREME POVERTY. |

THE TEAM VISITS EACH OFFICE PERIODICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND OVERSIGHT. THE PROGRAM TEAM ALSO ACCOMPANIES REGIONAL STAFF IN PROGRAM DESIGN MISSIONS IN WHICH WE ENGAGE WITH KEY POLICY MAKERS AND IMPLEMENTORS TO REVIEW HOW THE GRADUATION APPROACH COULD STRENGTHEN THEIR POLICY FRAMEWORKS, PARTICULARLY IN EXTENDING THEIR EFFECTIVENESS IN INCLUDING MORE VULNERABLE POPULATIONS. THE PROGRAM TEAM ENGAGES IN TECHNICAL MEETINGS IN THE DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY TO SHARE LEARNING AND FOSTER STRATEGIC ALLIANCES, THESE INCLUDE PARTICIPATION IN THE SEEP CONFERENCE (TO FOSTER INCLUSIVE MARKETS AND FINANCIAL SYSTEMS), AND THE CONFERENCE OF THE CONSULTATIVE GROUP TO ASSIST THE POOR, A WORLD BANK GROUP TASKED WITH DEVELOPING THE MODEL TO SUCCESSFULLY GRADUATE PEOPLE OUT OF EXTREME POVERTY, AND INTERACTION, A CONSORTIUM OF US PVOS FOCUSED ON INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT. IN INDIA, WE SECURED PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE NATIONAL RURAL LIVELIHOOD MISSION THROUGH ITS STATE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES IN THE STATE OF JHARKHAND AND ODISHA TO INCORPORATE THE GRADUATION APPROACH TO MORE EFFECTIVELY REACH CRITICALLY VULNERABLE GROUPS THROUGH GOVERNMENT SERVICES. WE HAVE CONTINUED TO MEET WITH THE BHARAT RURAL LIVELIHOODS FOUNDATION TO SECURE AN ADDITIONAL PARTNERSHIP IN WEST BENGAL. THESE CONFERENCES AND MEETINGS ENABLE US TO SHARE OUR EXPERIENCE AND LEARN FROM KEY GOVERNMENT ACTORS INTERESTED IN IMPROVING POLICY OUTREACH AND FINANCIAL INCLUSION OF THE POOREST SEGMENTS OF THEIR POPULATIONS. |

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc | 0 | RESEARCH:SUPPORTING PEOPLE IN MOVING OUT OF EXTREME POVERTY IS A CHALLENGING TASK AND DEMANDS A SERIES OF INTERVENTIONS THAT RESPOND TO THE MULTIPLE DIMENSIONS OF POVERTY THEY FACE. THIS YEAR, TRICKLE UP COMPLETED THE FIRST PHASE OF A RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL (RCT) ON HOW STRENGTHENING LIVELIHOODS AT THE HOUSEHOLD LEVEL IN BURKINA FASO IMPACTS CHILD PROTECTION CONDITIONS OF CHILDREN (WITH TWO ARTICLES SUBMITTED FOR PEER REVIEW AND MULTPLE CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS), AND CONDUCTED EXPERIMENTATIONS ON WAYS TO DELIVER COACHING MORE COST-EFFECTIVELY IN BURKINA. TRICKLE UP ALSO COMPLETED AND PUBLISHED A QUASI-EXPERIMENTAL EVALUATION IN INDIA ON THE IMPACT OF ITS GRADUATION PROGRAM. |
