As a Designated Local Arts Agency of the Department of Economic and Community Development Office of the Arts, Shoreline Arts Alliance is responsible for serving the broad cultural sector within the region and making the arts a part of the daily fabric of community life.What began as an idea sparked by a handful of visionaries more than 30 years ago has been reaffirmed as a major objective of Shoreline Arts Alliance by the current Board of Directors. In 1980, a coalition of area arts organizations and artists came together with the goals of sponsoring and encouraging Shoreline arts activities, serving as an umbrella organization for existing arts groups and building a regional arts center. Since that time Shoreline Arts Alliance has continued to develop, launch and present quality arts programming on the Shoreline, as well as to build a strong base of arts organizations known as Member Organizations.Shoreline Arts Alliance serves these member organizations throughout the region as a local arts agency, providing collaborative, promotional and professional development opportunities that help to build arts awareness and audience participation. Shoreline Arts Alliance also serves thousands of performing and creative artists annually, from aspiring students to professionals, through a variety of arts programs and awards.These programs and those of member organizations provide innumerable ways in which individuals may participate in the arts by attending music, dance and theatre performances and art exhibitions by submitting to statewide juried competitions by enriching the arts experience through classes and workshops by joining local art clubs and societies by volunteering at various arts events and by becoming a contributor to Shoreline Arts Alliance and other local community arts organizations. |
