Chrysalis center's mission is to provide supportive services to assist people in need to transform their lives. Chrysalis center is a private, non-profit, socially innovative, multiservice organization that serves individuals and their families living in the state of connecticut. Chrysalis center helps those living in poverty, veterans, men, women, children, and young adults who are struggling with mental health, addiction, hiv/aids, those returning from incarceration and homelessness.the organization's philosophy of "getting help getting better giving back" is weaved throughout each program and service, inspiring clients to give back to the community, thus truly advancing chrysalis center's mission and transforming lives. THIS INNOVATIVE FOOD PANTRY IS LOCATED ON OUR HARTFORD CAMPUS AND PROVIDES 100 FAMILIES LIVING IN THE POOREST NEIGHBORHOODS IN HARTFORD WITH SUPPORT SERVICES, ADDRESSING THE ROOT CAUSES OF HUNGER.- HOMESTEAD FARMERS' MARKET: HELD MAY THROUGH OCTOBER, THE HOMESTEAD FARMERS' MARKET OFFERS CLIENTS AND NEIGHBORS IN THE NORTH END OF HARTFORD LOCALLY GROWN, CULTURALLY RELEVANT FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, AS WELL AS FRESH BAKED GOODS FROM OUR OWN LA COCINA. - RAILWAY GARDENS: A VOLUNTEER LED EFFORT, FEATURING FIFTEEN RAISED BEDS WITH A VARIETY OF PRODUCE, THE 500 SQUARE-FOOT GARDEN SPACE IS LOCATED ALONGSIDE THE RAILWAY IN OUR HARTFORD LOCATION, HELPING TO FEED THOSE IN NEED IN OUR UPPER ALBANY NEIGHBORHOODS. - THE FOOD FOREST: LOCATED ON ONE OF OUR SUPPORTIVE HOUSING SITES, THE FOOD FOREST CONSISTS OF TWO ACRES OF URBAN FARMING WHERE FOOD IS GROWN WITHOUT DISTURBING THE NATURAL VEGETATION. MAINTAINED AND CULTIVATED BY VOLUNTEERS AND CLIENTS, THE FOOD FOREST GROWS FRUITS, VEGETABLES AND HERBS WHICH ARE USED IN A NUMBER OF CHRYSALIS CENTER PROGRAMS INCLUDING LA COCINA, FRESHPLACE AND THE HOMESTEAD FARMERS' MARKET.
