Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Page 2, Part V, Line 4

The organization has transferred assets to the community foundation of greater new britain (the foundation) which is holding them as an endowed component fund ("fund") for the benefit of the organization. The organization has granted the foundation variance power which gives the foundation's board of directors the power to use the fund for other purposes in certain circumstances. The fund is subject to the foundation's investment and spending policies which currently result in a distribution to the organization of 3.75 percent of the average quarterly value over the previous 20 quarters as of september 30 each year. The organization reports the fair value of the fund as endowment investment in community foundation of greater new britain in the statement of financial position and reports distributions received as investment income. Changes in the value of the fund are reported as gains or losses in the statement of activities. These donor-restricted endowment funds are restricted to investment in perpetuity, the income from which is expendable to support general operations.

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

The organization is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c) (3) of the internal revenue code, except on net income derived from unrelated business activities. For the year ended june 30, 2018, the organization has determined that no income taxes are due for its activities. Accordingly, no provision for income taxes has been recorded in the accompanying financial statements. Management annually reviews its tax positions and has determined that there are no material uncertain tax positions that require recognition in the financial statements. Federal and state tax authorities generally have the right to examine and audit the previous three years of tax returns filed. The open tax years are years ended 2015 through 2017.
