In regard to community outreach activities, the organization seeks to improve the physical, mental, social and spiritual health status of its surrounding community. “St. Vincent's Special Needs Center, Inc., along with all the other related organizations of St. Vincent's Health Services Corporation, historically had invested its investments in the Ascension Health System Depository (HSD). During 2012, these investments were transferred to Ascension Health Alliance, the parent of Ascension Health, to be deposited into a wholly owned investment company. Special Needs accounts for uncertainty in income tax positions by applying a recognition threshold and measurement attribute for financial statement recognition and measurement of a tax position taken or expected to be the taken in a tax return. APPROXIMATELY 13 CHILDREN WERE IN THIS PROGRAM AT THE END OF THE FISCAL YEAR. THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT PROVIDED APPROXIMATELY $9.0 MILLION IN FUNDING FOR THESE PROGRAMS.
