Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

A draft of the form 990 and applicable schedules is provided to each member of the homeward board of directors for review before it is filed with the internal revenue service. It is reviewed by homeward's ceo and coo.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Homeward maintains a conflict of interest policy that is regulary reviewed and approved by the board of directors. Every effort is made to identify potential areas of conflict and where they are identified, action is taken to remove the conflict. This would normally result in exclusion of the conflictee from deliverations around operational areas where the conflict arises.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Homeward has established salary grades and ranges which take into consideraton published compensation studies and other databases, which include compensation data specific to nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations when determining compensation levels to external comparison groups, including appropriate adjustments to reflect the individuals' skills, experience, length of service, and stature/reputation of homeward's executives. The finance committee makes recomendations regarding compensation levels of the ceo annually to the board of directors, who ultimately approve these decisions.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

Homeward's governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements are available to the public upon request of the ceo or the board of directors.
