Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The conservancy works to amplify community voice and catalyze bold solutions, to make the lower charles river and its parks more vibrant, healthy and welcoming now and in the future. Our works aligns with 3 "c"s: connect organizations, people and communities to each other and the river and its parks. Create bold, impactful solutions that elevate and strengthen the river and its parks as an essential ecological foundation and cultural asset for greater boston. Celebrate the river and its parks and the intersection of people and nature to inspire involvement.

The charles river conservancy, inc. Is a nonprofit corporation that promotes the active and innovative use of the 400 acres of urban public parklands along the charles river from boston harbor to the watertown dam. The conservancy and its partners, the commonwealth of massachusetts and many other community groups organize volunteers to beautify the parklands and preserve the landscape, advocate for land uses that advance healthy living, public access, and physical parkland improvements, and build awareness about the charles river. With a mission to make the parklands more active, attractive, and accessible for all, the conservancy is supported primarily through donor contributions and grants.
