Mission

Nonformal education. All charitable, educational, and scientific purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) including but not limited to: a. promoting justice, civic concern, effective communication, and the peaceful resolution of conflict b. improving the quality of educational practices and systems c. conducting educational programs for young people, educators, human services personnel, and community leaders.

Leadership Development Programs: Provided workshops, coaching, literature, videos, and online information on the theory and practice of sociocracy, an egalitarian approach to governance. Four cycles of 9-week training for cohorts of 14-18 each. In person workshops ranging from 90 minutes to three days. One online international conference attended by more than 200. One advanced year-long training program with 40 participants. Distributed approximately 750 copies of the book Many Voices One Song: Shared Power with Sociocracy. A series of online webinars and short classes attended by variying numbers - between 6 and 80. Videos posted publicly and seen by thousands.$0$82,929
Cambridge Bethlehem People to People Project initiated a "coffee house" with 2 activists - one Palestinian and one from Cambridge - on the experience of gay Palestinians and the Israeli practice of pinkwashing. The event was attended by more than 75 people and catalyzed new conversations on the topics. We co-hosted several venues for the Promised Land Museum (founded to provide a Jewish perspective on the Israel/Palestine conflict with the founder of the museum. The museum is an exhibit of a set of panels about the myths/beliefs from a Jewish perspective of Palestine. CBPPP hosted a dinner with psychologist/art expressive therapist Khitam Edelbi to support her work with children and in Bedouin Villages. Members of CBPPP actively participated in the Walk for Water raising funds and consciousness about the restrictions on water in the West Bank. The Committee has added several new members to its core group which meets monthly.$25,000$0
International Understanding Programs: Support a sister city exchange and education program between Cambridge MA and San Jose Las Flores (SJLF) in El Salvador. Designated a Sister City representative to attend the 33rd anniversary of the repopulation in San Jose Las Flores in June. Supported a delegate to the weeklong August Popular Education workshop in El Salvador. Hosted a successful summer pot-luck with Sister City supporters to share updates and hear about related struggles in Honduras. Convened a Fall Convivio for community-building, a report on the new government and a report-back from the summer popular education workshop in El Salvador. Organized a meeting with the new Salvadoran Consul General for New England to collaborate for the future. Supported a network of visits and care for a member of the project in intensive rehab.
