Mission

Nonformal education. All charitable, educational, and scientific purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) including but not limited to: a. promoting justice, civic concern, effective communication, and the peaceful resolution of conflict b. improving the quality of educational practices and systems c. conducting educational programs for young people, educators, human services personnel, and community leaders.

Cambridge Bethlehem People to People Project sponsored a series of events in conjunction with the re-exhibition of Palestinian Voices in Cambridge at Harvard Gutman Library. The opening was attended by more than 100 and hundreds more (students, community people, faculty) visited the exhibition over its 6 week installation. Several hundred attended a film evening "Scenes from a Bethlehem Refugee Camp" with Amahl Bishara and an intergenerational panel of Cambridge Palestinians ranging in age from 12 to 80. The Project hosted an afternoon with comedian Jimmy Tingle collaborating with the Water Alliance to support service projects on contaminated and restricted water in Bethlehem.$20,000$4,785
Leadership Development Programs: Provided workshops, coaching, literature, videos, and online information on the theory and practice of sociocracy, an egalitarian approach to governance. Four cycles of 9-week training for cohorts of 14-24 each. Videos posted publicly and seen by thousands.$0$12,269
International Understanding Programs: Support a sister city exchange and education program between Cambridge MA and San Jose Las Flores (SJLF) in El Salvador. On-going monthly meetings and sustaining core group. The ES Sister City Project has been developing a proposal for a popular education workshop in the spring of 2018 with Equipo Maiz from El Salvador reaching a cross section of the local activists community. Rachel Wyon traveled to El Salvador in July to plan this event and visit our sister city. We organized a potluck with historian Molly Todd who is designing a website with the history of sister city communities. The Committee actively worked with the City of Cambridge to reestablish its sanctuary status and held a reception for the 30th anniversary of San Jose Las Flores.
