To unite religious, labor, and community organizations in campaigns to expand economic opportunities and good jobs, save and create affordable housing, and to address other issues related to the welfare of the merrimack valley region; and through these campaigns to develop the leadership skills of valley residents, particularly those underrepresented in public life.

THE MISSION OF MVP IS TO UNITE RELIGIOUS, LABOR, AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS IN CAMPAIGNS TO EXPAND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES AND GOOD JOBS, SAVE AND CREATE AFFORDABLE HOUSING, AND TO ADDRESS OTHER ISSUES RELATED TO THE WELFARE OF THE MERRIMACK VALLEY REGION; AND THROUGH THESE CAMPAIGNS TO DEVELOP THE LEADERSHIP SKILLS OF VALLEY RESIDENTS, PARTICULARLY THOSE UNDERREPRESENTED IN PUBLIC LIFE.---------------------------------------------------------SPECIFICALLY, DURING THIS TIME, MVP HAS: -ORGANIZED 6 KNOW YOUR RIGHTS WORKSHOPS WITH LOCAL IMMIGRATION ATTORNEYS THAT HAVE HELPED TO EDUCATE OVER 180 IMMIGRANTS ABOUT THEIR EXISTING RIGHTS IN THE IMMIGRATION SYSTEM. -CONDUCTED 4 SANCTUARY CONGREGATION TRAININGS (3 IN ENGLISH AND 1 IN SPANISH) FOR 150 MEMBERS OF DIVERSE CITY AND SUBURBAN VALLEY CONGREGATIONS. THESE TRAININGS HELPED PROVIDE THE FOUNDATION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE VALLEY'S FIRST INTERFAITH SANCTUARY NETWORK. -CO-SPONSORED AN IMMIGRATION FORUM ALONG WITH THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, MIRA (MASSACHUSETTS IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE ADVOCACY), THE ACLU, AND OTHER ALLIES WHICH WAS ATTENDED BY OVER 300 VALLEY RESIDENTS.-PARTICIPATED IN THE MAY 1STDAY WITHOUT IMMIGRANTS MARCH ORGANIZED BY OUR COALITION PARTNER, COSECHA, TO CONVEY THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL BENEFIT THAT THOUSANDS OF VALLEY IMMIGRANTS BRING TO THEIR SCHOOLS, WORKPLACES, CONGREGATIONS, AND COMMUNITIES.---------------------------------------------------------ON THE ACTION FRONT, MVP HAS COLLABORATED WITH OURMEMBER GROUPS TO HELP CREATE A PRO-IMMIGRANT ENVIRONMENT THROUGHOUT THE MERRIMACK VALLEY. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, MVP HAS:- ESTABLISHED THE REGION'S FIRST INTERFAITH SANCTUARY NETWORK, BRINGING TOGETHER 20 RELIGIOUS LEADERS FROM ACROSS THE VALLEY TO PUBLICLY DECLARE THEIR SUPPORT FOR THE REGION'S IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES.- IDENTIFIED A MEMBER CONGREGATION WILLING TO CREATE A SANCTUARY SPACE FOR IMMIGRANTS IN NEED AND COORDINATED RESOURCES WITH OUR OTHER MEMBER GROUPS AS THE PROJECT HAS PROGRESSED.- FORMED TWO SEPARATE RAPID RESPONSE TEAMS IN LAWRENCE AND HAVERHILL COMPOSED OF 15-20 DEDICATED LEADERS WILLING TO PROVIDE ACCOMPANIMENT AND VISIBILITY TO IMMIGRANTS INVOLVED IN DETAINMENT HEARINGS OR CHECK-INS.- HOSTED A LARGE-SCALE PUBLIC ACTION IN HAVERHILL WHERE OVER 250 RESIDENTS HEARD FIRST-HAND ACCOUNTS OF THE IMMIGRANT EXPERIENCE AND THEN USED THE EVENT TO SUCCESSFULLY CONVINCE LOCAL POLITICIANS TO PUBLICLY REAFFIRM THEIR SUPPORT FOR THE CITY'S IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES.
