In times of triumph and through adversity, coast guard foundation programs:- improve the well-being and morale of the men and women of the coast guard and their families- provide education grants and scholarships for junior members, their spouses, and college-age children- provide critical support during tragic times of injury and loss- support academic, athletic, diversity and leadership development of coast guard academy cadets- provide emergency relief and assistance during times of natural disasters- raise public awareness of the importance of the coast guard's missions; and- honor coast guard heroes.the foundation steps in where federal funds fall short or cannot be spent.
