“Outreach and advocacy the franklin park coalition (fpc), as "a community voice for the park," maintains strong communication lines with neighborhood associations and park users. We take concerns to the city of boston's parks department, the agency responsible for the maintenance, management, and oversight of the park. In addition, we work closely with local police, institutions within and abutting franklin park, elected officials representing the park, and other relevant city and state agencies. In 2021 the franklin park coalition worked on a new master plan, the franklin park action plan, to ensure that the designs and ideas for park improvements and changes over the next decade represented community members' input. Fpc held neighborhood meetings and a monthly management meeting with parks dept officials. When issues arose during the warmer months around all-night parties, motor bikes, and other uses that break park rules and disrupt park use, the coalition worked with city councilors and city managers to develop solutions. Last, plans for a large state hospital adjacent the park were followed closely to ensure both community and park needs were considered.”
