IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0SOCIAL AND RECREATIONTHE SOCIAL AND RECREATION PROGRAM AT GMPI ENCOMPASSES THREE MAJOR AREAS. FIRST, IT HAS PROVEN TO BE BENEFICIAL BY INCREASING FRIENDSHIPS AND RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN AN INDIVIDUAL AND HIS/HER COMMUNITY THROUGH RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES. THE INDIVIDUALS ARE NOTIFIED OF COMMUNITY BASED ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES IN THEIR AREA SUCH AS FESTIVALS, SPORTING EVENTS AND PROGRAMS. THE "UNIQUENESS" WE HAVE AT GMPI, IS THAT WE PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FOR ALL OF THE SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES.TODAY, THE SOCIAL AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT CONTINUES TO PROVIDE THE NECESSARY, SAFE AND RELIABLE GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES TO OUR CLIENT BASE. THIS PROGRAM CONTINUES TO PROVIDE THE SERVICES NECESSARY FOR BUILDING SELF ESTEEM IN OUR CLIENTS AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY INTEGRATION.
