To equip young people with the attitude, skills and experience to graduate from college, focusing on engaging gang-involved youth to become positive leaders in their community.

To equip dorchester students with the attitude, skills and experience to graduate from college. They aim to use education as a means of ending the cycles of poverty, violence and lack of opportunity in low-income communities.

STUDENTS IN THE OST PROGRAM SPEND A MINIMUM OF 60% OF THEIR TIME ON ACADEMIC SUPPORT, INCLUDING INTENSIVE HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE AND TUTORING, READING, WRITING, NUMERACY, AND SCIENCE EXPLORATION. OTHER ACTIVITIES INCLUDE EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS, CONFLICT RESOLUTION SKILL BUILDING, RECREATIONAL AND VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS ACTIVITIES.

WE PROVIDE YEAR-ROUND SUPPORT TO GUIDE STUDENTS THROUGH THREE COMPETENCY-BASED EDUCATION LEVELS: FOUNDATIONS (HISET PREPARATION AND ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES); BRIDGE TO COLLEGE (REMEDIAL COURSEWORK INSTRUCTION/TRANSITION COACHING); AND COLLEGE SUPPORT (ON-GOING GUIDANCE UNTIL DEGREE COMPLETION). WE HAVE A COLLEGE MATRICULATION RATE 76% HIGHER THAN THE NATIONAL RATE FOR HISET RECIPIENTS; 130+ STUDENTS ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES (60% RETENTION); 35+ GRADUATES WHO ARE EMPLOYED; AND 85% OF CORE INFLUENCERS NOT RECIDIVATING.

STUDENTS AT THE ALTERNATIVE MIDDLE SCHOOL ARE DUAL-ENROLLED AT BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE CITY, BUT ATTEND ALL THEIR CLASSES AT LITTLE HOUSE. THE ALTERNATIVE MIDDLE SCHOOL OFFERS A SUPPORTIVE, SAFE ATMOSPHERE WHERE CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION IS INDIVIDUALIZED. THE CLASSROOM CURRICULUM INCORPORATES INTERDISCIPLINARY, THEMATIC UNITS OF STUDY.
