“Run MIT Fraternity under MIT national organization includes fraternity and brotherhood functions and social events VI 19 Governing documents conflict of interest statements and financial statements are available by request by contacting the Treasurer Part VI The fraternity has members that consist of MIT students They reside together in the fraternity home to foster intellectual awareness social responsibility and brotherhood The members are able to vote and elect various members of the governing body including the president vice president treasurer rush chairman secretary and brotherhood development director The president then appoints the remaining governing body positions including house chairman social chairman risk manager and freshman class representative Some governance decisions of the organization including mealtimes constitutional changes meeting times and social opportunities are reserved to or subject to approval by members not in the governing body The organization does not have local chapters branches or affiliates as the organization is a local chapter of a national fraternity organization Reason for filing late We submitted 2020s Form 990 through mail instead of electronically online This was due to a misunderstanding of which deadline for paper vs electronic submissions applied to our organization Our fiscal year ended before July 30 2021 and we believed that we were to submit paper copies but it turns out that did not apply to us We now know that our Form 990s need to be submitted electronically and we apologize for any issues this caused”
