Financial Statement Notes

Part V, Line 4

The endowment enables perkins to teach academics and critical life skills to students. It funds the development of new adaptive technologies. It supports vocational initiatives that prepare teens for "real world" by building skills and confidence. It makes possible the programs and services that bring opportunity to children and young adults who are blind, deafblind and visually impaired with additional disabilities, on campus and in our global community. Perkins allocates a rolling average of approximately 5% of the total endowment to be used in support of operations. The employed spending rate approach ensures that the endowment remains a perpetual source of support for the school and its mission of serving individuals who are blind, deaf-blind, or visually impaired.

Part X, Line 2

The school is a tax-exempt organization as described under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code (irc) and is generally exempt from federal and state income taxes under section 501(a) of the irc and applicable state laws. The school believes it has no significant uncertain tax positions.
