Activity 2

SIT Study Abroad - A pioneer in experiential, field-based study abroad, SIT Study Abroad offers semester, summer, and academic year programs for undergraduate students in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, as well as comparative programs in multiple locations. Our mission: Prepare students to be intellectually effective leaders, professionals, and citizens. In doing so, WL fosters a worldwide network of individuals and organizations committed to responsible global citizenship. Programs focus on critical global issues in specific geographical and cultural contexts using an interdisciplinary approach. Studying with host country faculty and living with families, students gain a deep appreciation for local cultures and become immersed in diverse topics ranging from the politics of identity to post-conflict transformation, from global health to environmental policy. The SIT Study Abroad experience includes: rigorous academic programs through a field-based, experiential approach; undergraduate research through an Independent Study Project or Case Studies; cultural immersion through fieldwork, intensive language classes, and urban and rural home stays with local families; a small group of students in each program, supported by WL faculty and staff, home-stay families, in-country experts, and community members; and, a commitment to reciprocity as the foundation of our educational philosophy. More than 2,000 students from 200-plus colleges and universities studying in over 40 countries each year. Activity 3

SIT Graduate Institute - The SIT Graduate Institute offers graduate students and professionals internationally focused full-time and low-residency master's degrees, as well as certificate and professional development programs. Our mission: prepare students to be interculturally effective leaders, professionals, and citizens. SIT fosters a worldwide network of individuals and organizations committed to responsible global citizenship. Programs include international education, NGO and nonprofit management, sustainable development, social justice in intercultural relations, conflict transformation, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). SIT alumni and partners are engaged in creating, leading and developing social justice, educational and international development organizations around the world. Degree candidates include high-ranking government officials and leaders in civil society from the developing world, coming from more than 35 countries and collectively speak over 60 languages. SIT served as a training center for early Peace Corps volunteers and attracts many returned volunteers as staff and students. WL's academic programs offered through SIT (founded as the School for International Training) are accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
