“Professional development for educators: during 2014,80 educators were trained in the plt curriculum for elementary middle and high school students through conferences, workshops and summer institutes. The plt early childhood program trained 120 pre-school and early childhood educators. Connected teachers to natural resource specialists and field trip sites in and around their schools. Building vertical science literacy: trained and supported 30 teacher-leaders from nashua and governor wentworth and lin-wood school districts during 2014-2015 school year using environmental topics, inquiry and field investigations. Institute for nature based learning: began planning work to train, advise and support 15 middle and high school teachers in cooperation with the us forest service. Major activities included 11 days of training in forest ecology conservation and management, data gathering and analysis, project-based learning and curriculum design. Educational support materials: produced and distributed three newsletters to over 3,300 educators trained in plt.”
