The mission is to assist individuals and families in preventing, reducing or eliminating poverty in their lives, and, through partnerships, to engage the community in addressing economic and social needs.
To administer health, housing, and social service programs that will improve the lives of the citizens of Penobscot, Piscataquis, Knox and other Maine counties by providing direct services, creating opportunities for individuals living in poverty to work toward becoming self sufficient, and actively indentifying and mobilizing public and private resources to sustain these efforts.
