The plan currently is to re-invest earnings and future donations to grow the endowment before appropriations are made.During 2020, Tahoe Fund received a donation with a donor restriction to establish a trails endowwment to support trail improvements around the Tahoe region. The board of directors also designates funds to this endowment at times. The goal is to grow the fund to $3,000,000 over time. Earnings from this fund are available for use immediately to support the endowwment's purpose.”
“Tahoe Fund is exempt from federal income taxes under the provisions of Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), and a similar exemption for California purposes. Tahoe Fund is not classified as a private foundation. Unrelated business income, if any, is taxed at regular corporate tax rates.Management has processes presently in place to ensure maintenance of its tax exempt statuses; to identify and report unrelated business income; to determine the filing and tax obligations for which there is nexus; and to identify and evaluate other matters that may be considered tax postions.
