Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2

Steven j. Olson & ronald l. Olson have a family relationship.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 3

Legacy has an agreement with the rose bowl operating company (rboc) whereas the rboc will provide staffing to carry out management duties previously performed by legacy staff. Rboc staff so designated will perform duties per the supervision and direction of legacy's board of directors.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

An outside public accounting firm works with the organization to gather the necessary information to complete the 990. The individuals involved with gathering the information at the organization review a draft form 990 and the accounting firm makes any final changes. The final form 990 is then reviewed and approved by the president of the board. The final form 990 is then distributed to the members of the board before filing.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

According to the organization's conflict of interest policy, all board members and officers are required to complete a conflict of interest disclosure statement. The policy requires each governing body member to disclose any conflict on a particular matter that may arise, and recuse him or herself from deliberations and votes on such matters.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

Legacy connection's organizing & governing documents and the conflict of interest policy are not made available to the public. The financial information is included in the organization's form 990, which is available for public inspection.

Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

There have been no changes in the organization's oversight process or selection process during 2017.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Legacy connections ("legacy") considers many factors when evaluating and estimating its tax positions and tax benefits, which may require periodic adjustments and which may not accurately anticipate actual outcomes. Legacy evaluates its uncertain tax positions in accordance with standards set forth under u.s. Gaap. These standards require management to perform an evaluation of all income tax positions taken, or expected to be taken, in the course of preparing legacy's tax returns. Management believes the tax positions taken more likely than not will be sustained under examination by the applicable tax authorities. Examples of tax positions taken include the tax-exempt position of legacy and various positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business taxable income. Since matters are subject to some degree of uncertainty, there can be no assurance that legacy's tax returns will not be challenged by the taxing authorities and that legacy will not be subject to additional tax, penalties, and interest as a result of such challenge.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0LEGACY CONNECTIONS ("LEGACY") CONSIDERS MANY FACTORS WHEN EVALUATING AND ESTIMATING ITS TAX POSITIONS AND TAX BENEFITS, WHICH MAY REQUIRE PERIODIC ADJUSTMENTS AND WHICH MAY NOT ACCURATELY ANTICIPATE ACTUAL OUTCOMES.
