Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The mission of a+ youth program is to use sports as a vehicle to provide the educational resources and character development necessary for student-athletes to succeed in life.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Basketball each participant is given basketball training by a number of highly qualified coaches. Part of the goal is to develop individual skills, teamwork and leadership through healthy competition with other teams in the area. Another goal is to teach the participants the need to be physically fit, using basektball as the means to develop that fitness.
Activity 3
Technology and computer schoolsa+ has enlisted the services of technokids of ontario, canada to assist in the development of participants computer skills. Technokids is a computer learning program that develops skills in windows office and adobe programs. Each friday the participants spend one hour in the computer lab using technokids with detailed lesson plans that give the tutors the ability to integrate technology with other learning activities. These lesson plans incorporate the use of powerpoint, word, excel, access, photoshop, adobe and flash with language arts, mathematics, social studies, and visual arts. Technokids provides the skills students need to apply knowledge attained in the classroom and through tutoring to help them obtain a higher education and prepare for their future careers.
