Mission

The Truckee Trails Foundation (TTF) is working towards a system of trails and bikeways in and around Truckee, California that will connect people and places, reduce our community's dependence on automobiles, and improve our physical, social, and environmental health.

The maximum number of board members was increased from 9 to 15.

The return is distributed via email to board members prior to mailing.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts

Board Members are required to review the conflict of interest policy and disclose possible conflicts and independence issues annually. Board members are also expected to self-monitor and disclose if conflicts arise. If a conflict exists, board members are expected to leave the room for discussions and recuse themselves from voting.

Initially the compensation of the Executive Director was set by the board who considered the compensation paid for similar positions in other non-profit organizations. Each year, the President gives the Executive Director a review. The President then discusses the review and compensation with the board. Final compensation increases are then approved by the full board.

The compensation to Dan Goddard was for construction of trails which was paid to his company. The amount includes compensation for materials and his employees time and is not reflective of the number of hours Dan volunteered to the organization as a board member.

IRS990/Desc0Trail Construction:Completed most of the 2.5-mile Elizabethtown Trail, a non-motorized multi-use path connecting Northstar with the Waddle Ranch Preserve. This includes construction of a 45-foot pedestrian bridge that will cross Middle Martis Creek.Trail Maintenance:Began work on a major re-route of the Commemorative Overland Emigrant Trail (upper Alder Creek) that will result in a more user- and environmentally-friendly trail.Completed over 2,400 paid (seasonal) crew hours and 1,500 volunteer hours (seven volunteer days) on our areas favorite dirt trails, keeping them safe, sustainable, and user-friendly.Trail Planning:Worked closely with the Truckee Tahoe Airport District (TTAD) to finalize their draft trails plan, which involves a paved perimeter trail and dirt spur trails surrounding the airport. Formed official partnerships and completed the first draft of a trail alignment for the proposed Pines to Mines Trail, an 80-mile non-motorized trail which would run from Truckee to Nevada City. Began studies and completed a proposed alignment on the proposed Sawtooth to Western States trail, in partnership with Northstar and the United States Forest Service.
