IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0True North continued its Education Program in 2013 with three areas of focus - Conference Room Rental program, Learn Over Lunch Community Education Program and Medical Student and Resident Training.Programs facilitated through True Norths education program are focused on family health, personal growth, nutrition, physical fitness, and general wellness topics.Community instructors and True North practitioners and affiliates rent space to facilitate their programs and they handle their own marketing and registration. In 2013, True North offered 29 classes. Learn Over Lunch Community Education Program True North practitioners and affiliates offer wellness presentations to local businesses, schools and nonprofit groups delivered right to the workplace that fit easily into a lunch hour. Topics include General Wellness, Family Health, Food & Nutrition and Stress Relief. The first presentation is offered for free; fees for each additional talk vary by practitioner. In 2013, 5 presentations were held, hosted by Bowdoin College. True North also had a booth at the USM Employee Wellness Fair and Barber Foods Wellness Fair and Common Ground Fair and presented at conferences and events hosted Dartmouth Medical Center, Common Ground Fair, and Insitute for Functional Medicine.Medical Student and Resident Training True North has retained its commitment to giving medical school students and residents the experience of what it is like to practice in an integrative health care center.We work regularly with the University of New England, Maine Medical Center, and Central Maine Medical Center to bring their residents, medical school students and interns to work with True North practitioners for as short as one day or as long as 3-4 week rotations. Occasionally we are contacted by students from other schools who are motivated by an interest in integrative medicine and we make every effort to accommodate their requests.In 2013 we had 11 medical students/residents from various locations spend time at True North.
