“Legislation and lobbying: through direct and indirect legislation advocacy, the maine women's lobby advocates for gender-responsive and gender- equitable public policies, with a focus on those most affected by misogyny, sexism, and other forms of oppression. Our policy focus areas are freedom from violence, freedom from discrimination, access to health care, including reproductive health care, economic justice, and we also advocate for systems and representation which ensure equity and justice for all mainers. In 2024, we continued our work to lead the maine paid leave coalition, which succeeded in passing paid family and medical leave for maine in 2023, making our state the 13th state in the country to do so. We also worked with partners to expand gun safety legislation, access to crime victims' services, and access to family planning. Finally, we founded the maine era for all coalition to establish a constitutional amendment for equal rights in maine.”
