Mission

The University of New England prepares students to thrive in a rapidly-changing world and, in so doing, to improve the health of people, communities, and our planet.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Auxiliary services for the delivery of higher education include mail and room and board for over 1,000 students:the mission is to work in partnership with resident students to create a healthy and positive residential community that enhances academic pursuits and provides opportunities for personal, social and spiritual growth. The goal is to promote an atmosphere rooted in civility and personal responsibility, and encourage reflective thinking and active involvement. The staff strives to teach, model, and learn with the students the values of community, inquiry, integrity, and caring. Maintaining a close relationship with student activities creates a positive impact on campus life for the entire university. Students are encouraged to actively engage in many arenas to become more deeply involved in the university, and thereby in their own education. These experiences outside the classroom can truly enhance those experiences students have within the classroom.living and learning communities:interest pods: first-year student living & learning communitiesthe interest pod (i-pod) consists of up to six "pods," or clusters of student rooms that will each house 9-12 students and a resident advisor. Each pod is its own separate community within the building. With the guidance of a faculty/staff member, a student affairs professional, and a student resident advisor, students in each pod will have the opportunity to engage in their particular thematic core throughout the academic year. This engagement may take the form of off-campus learning opportunities, reflection activities, group research initiatives, discussions and any other experiences that pod members design. Building featurespadua hall is a three-story, co-ed residence hall with community bathrooms, laundry room, kitchenette, and a lounge on the second floor. Each bedroom is designed to hold 2 students with internet and phone access for each student. Rooms are furnished with a bunkable twin extra-long size bed and mattress, desk, chair, dresser, and wardrobe for each student.additional facts:university of new england dining services:using input from students through comment boards, personal contacts between students and food service managers, and regular meetings with campus dining advisory committees, the university's dining services is able to stay in step with the students' needs and desires. All new une students are encouraged to take advantage of any of the above methods of connecting in order to maintain an innovative and creative dining service meet all of student's diverse dietary choices.e services:the university of new england offers a number of on-line services for our students, faculty and staff:u-online - u-online provides students, faculty, and staff with secure, web-based access to selected administrative, academic, and employee records. U-online is the only on-line official web-based source of information from the university of new england. Blackboard/webct - the blackboard learning system is a course management system with teaching and learning tools for course preparation, delivery, and management. Myune - myune provides une students, faculty and staff with intranet and internet services, such as email, personal schedules, and campus calendars.
Activity 3
The dental hygiene clinic, a learning laboratory for students in the dental hygiene program at the westbrook college campus in portland, provides low-cost oral health services to more than 5,000 portland-area residents each year.approximately 40 medical students each year volunteer hundreds of hours at the biddeford free clinic.

PROGRAM. COLLEGE OF PHARMACY:THE COLLEGE OF PHARMACY BUILDING IS THE FIRST AND ONLY FACILITY IN MAINE DEVOTED ENTIRELY TO ACADEMIC STUDIES AND RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF PHARMACY. THE COLLEGE IS A LEADING EDUCATOR OF THE NEXT GENERATION OF PHARMACISTS. STUDENTS IN THE PROGRAM MASTER A VARIETY OF TOPICS RELATED TO MEDICATION USE INCLUDING DISEASE MANAGEMENT, PHARMACOLOGY, PHARMACOGENOMICS, AND PHARMACY INFORMATICS.THE CURRICULUM IS DEDICATED TO HELPING OUR STUDENTS ACHIEVE OUTCOMES SUITED FOR THEIR INDIVIDUAL INTERESTS AND CAREER ASPIRATIONS.
