The hope for our neighbors mission is to provide hope and compassion to our neighbors in cheshire, connecticut who are struggling with housing insecurity or homelessness by arranging services, financial assistance, guidance & advocacy, in collaboration with local organizations and our community.”

“Financial assistance: the financial assistance program prevents homelessness through direct assistance with utility shut-offs, unexpected mechanical or structure failures, or loss of income resulting from job loss or other circumstances. The purpose of the program is to prevent foreclosure or eviction which could result in the loss of housing.”

“Cold weather kits: the purpose of the cold weather kit program is to protect the physical safety of homeless individuals who are living outside during the coldest months. Each cold weather kit is supplied with a sleeping bag, bedroll, coat, hat, neck warmer, gloves, thermal socks, and hand & body warmers. The kit contents are placed in large water-resistant duffle bag along with personal toiletry items and instructions for getting help. Cold weather kits are made available to homeless individuals by officers from the cheshire police department in consultation with the cheshire human services department.”
