Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Our mission is to educate the public about the urgent threat of climate change and ecological collapse, highlighting the roles that government, the fossil fuel industry, and social movements play in the future of our planet. CDA EF aims to provide a full and fair exposition of the facts on the nature of the severity of climate change and the role that social movements play in transformative social change so that members of the public can make up their minds as to how to best direct their efforts as individuals in combating the climate crisis.

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
In 2024, Climate Direct Action Education Fund (CDA EF) focused on raising public awareness and supporting grassroots efforts to combat climate change. Key accomplishments include: 1. Public Education on Hanscom Airfield Expansion: CDA EF educated the public on the climate and environmental impacts of the proposed expansion of private jet services at Hanscom Airfield in Bedford, MA. This initiative aimed to highlight the significant carbon emissions from private jets and the urgency of addressing aviation's contribution to climate change. Through community outreach, informational campaigns, and collaboration with local environmental groups, we mobilized opposition to the expansion and provided critical information on its implications for the climate crisis. 2. Grassroots Fundraising Campaign: CDA EF led a grassroots fundraising effort to support our ongoing campaigns and initiatives. The campaign successfully raised $7,176.55, which was used to fund direct action initiatives, outreach materials, and local organizing efforts. This campaign helped build stronger connections with our community, engaging donors who share our commitment to climate action. 3. Support for Climate Action Groups: We supported a grassroots climate group, Extinction Rebellion Boston, by providing fiscal sponsorship, staff organizing support, art resources, and advice to help them navigate organizational challenges and fund their mission. This included support for educational programming and nonviolent protests aimed at educating the public about the harms to the public from new fossil fuel infrastructure and promoting sustainable alternatives. 4. Educational Materials: CDA EF produced and distributed educational materials, including fact sheets, posters, and social media content, designed to inform the public about the role of fossil fuels in the climate crisis. These materials were used in public events, protests, and social media campaigns, helping to broaden the conversation around climate change and social movements. 5. Strategic Planning and Capacity Building: Our organization also focused on strategic planning for future campaigns and capacity-building efforts to ensure long-term sustainability. We hosted internal strategy sessions for Extinction Rebellion Boston, trained new activists, and built partnerships with local and regional environmental groups to strengthen collective action on climate issues.$0$19,801
