“Maui grassroots collective formed in june 2024. This statement of program services represents june to december 2024. Maui grassroots collective provided fiscal sponsorship for projects: maui rapid response, maui medic healers hui and maui housing hui. Maui rapid response (mrr) is an ahupua.a-inspired response team made up of individuals from the maui community and coordinated support from a number of non-profit and direct-aid organizations. Mrr aims to strengthen maui's network of collective care, to build-up community-led initiatives, and to care for the people of maui, as guided by the kanaka .oiwi ahupua.a system. Through the relief compass- essential goods distribution program, mrr operates an inventory sharing system for essential needs supplies and distributed goods weekly to 100+ families. Mrr operates neighborhood outreach to connect with community, deliver water, essential goods, and identify support needs (3 teams x 26 weeks = approximately 78 outreach trips). Mrrs weekly food box distribution distributed food weekly to 100+ families. The direct public emergency assistance supported 19 people with electricity bills, emergency housing, and transportation. Maui medic healers hui (mmhh) provides health services and care at their lahaina comprehensive health clinic and through their community outreach efforts. The clinic was open 7 days a week in 2024, with support from 14 health practitioners, providing 2,000 total treatments (july- december 2024). Mmhh engaged in outreach, tabling events and supported the maui west studys efforts to track lahaina fire survivors long term health. Maui housing hui (mhh) supports tenants, landlords and community members navigate the housing crisis through education, advocacy, and support. Mhh offered 6 community education sessions, community outreach and networking support, and core leadership traveled to oahu for policy advocacy at the state level.”
