Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
For our Performance Program: As a chamber music ensemble, performing is at the forefront of what we do. In a given year we present 15-22 public concerts & reach between 2,000 to 2,500 audiences goers through in-person performances and tens of thousands more through the release of new music videos we record each season. Through the various commissions weve accumulated, our group offers a wide variety of music programs that we can present for various occasions & tailor to presenters depending on where we perform. In 2024 for example, through observing box office sales, and online RSVPs, we performed a total of 18 in-person concerts and reached roughly 2,250 audience goers through our performances.$50,000$65,700
For our Educational Program: Outside of the concert hall, we engage with schools across New York City, Chicago, and Florida, to provide free educational programming, which we deliver in the form of 5-6 week music residencies. We currently have 7 school partners across New York City, Chicago, and in Sarasota, FL that include PS163 (Brooklyn), Corlears School (Manhattan), Sunset Park High School (Chicago), Renaissance Charter School in Jackson Heights (Queens), Marvin Camras Childrens Engineering School (Chicago), Sarasota High School, and Alta Vista Elementary (Sarasota). In 2024 we served 476 students directly between all 7 locations. Each school year we craft our music residency curriculums alongside our supervising teachers and staff, in order to tailor each of our residencies to the wants and needs of each school and their students. We also offer a wide variety of other educational services outside of public school teaching residencies, such as: 1) Being able to provide various types of guest lectures (such as talking about fundraising, setting up a 501c3, promoting your ensemble's events, etc) 2) Offering masterclasses and workshops for students from High School to Collegiate Level that focus on topics such as (but not limited to) orchestral playing, writing for percussion and piano, and chamber music playing as an ensemble 3) Leading audiences through our rehearsal process, to answering questions regarding our commissioned repertoire through open rehearsals and demonstrations of our music to those interested in getting an introduction to how our group operates and performs as a unit Through all of our educational programming we serve roughly between 2,500 to 4,000 students annually.$30,000$37,800
For our Commission Program: Every season we commission 4-6 composers who come from underrepresented communities, have had little opportunities to present their work in public, and write music that reflects Pathos Trio's interests in chamber music. Since this program started in 2018 we've commissioned 32 composers and through performing their commissioned works and producing audio/video recordings for some of these works that have been publicized these works have reached over 53,000 viewers/listeners.$20,000$25,000

Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Part I, Line 10

Our nonprofit doesn't distribute grants, we primarily only receive contributed income to support our programs.

Part I, Line 16

No additional expenses

Part I, Line 20

We currently don't have for 2024 any net assets, as we're still in the process of transferring all of our assets and income from our original LLC to our nonprofit bank account as of 6/9/2025. When we file our 2025 990 EZ next year we will have net assets.

Part I, Line 8

When our 501(c)3 nonprofit become officially formed back on June 24th, 2024 Pathos Ensemble (aka Pathos Trio) still had it's LLC, and so during the remainder of 2024 we were working on finishing closing out our activity from our LLC, so that once we got into the 2025 calendar we would work on disbanding our LLC and transfer all of our assets to our 501(c)3 nonprofit. We're still in the process of doing this as of 6/9/2025 and in the meantime we had one donor (our biggest contributor) gift us $54,000 in 2024, so that we can show that income in the books while we work on transferring all of our assets and income from our original LLC to our nonprofit bank account in 2025.

Part II, Line 24

We had one donor (our biggest contributor) gift us $54,000 in 2024, so that we can show that income in the books while we work on transferring all of our assets and income from our original LLC to our nonprofit bank account in 2025. We're still working on transferring our assets from our LLC to our nonprofit bank account as of 6/9/2025 and so when we file our 2025 990 EZ those transferred assets will be reflected.

Part II, Line 26

No liabilities received.
