Producing these barrel races allows us to give back to our community, fellowship with our family and friends, and spread the gospel as much as we can. “Faith, family, friends 3f barrel racing association (3fbra) is an equine club run by a small board of volunteer horse-lovers. 3fbra produces approximately 8-10 barrel races per year at the baker recreation & equestrian center in baker, florida. Barrel races are a timed equine sports event wherein participants pay an entry fee in order to compete for a cash prize. Equine athletes of all ages are encouraged to compete, with additional sidepot earning opportunities for seniors, as well as participation prizes for all pee-wee participants (under 8 years of age). We offer memberships to those that want to qualify for end-of-year events and prizes. Anyone is able to purchase a membership. Members are required to volunteer a minimum of four hours per year to assist in the running of our shows. Members earn points based on their placings at each show, and those points convert to end-of-year rankings and subsequent awards. We also partner with the national barrel horse association (nbha) to cosanction shows so that members can earn points with each organization. 3fbra offers sponsorship opportunities to local businesses in which funds are donated in exchange for business advertisements, logos displayed on year-end awards, and other incentives. The organization is funded solely by membership fees, sponsorships, and donations. We are completely non-profit and everything we receive, after expenses are paid, is poured back into our members in the form of end-of-year prizes, banquets, updating show equipment, waived entry fees/memberships, and donations to local charities. Each show is run entirely by volunteers, with our board members and their families contributing approximately ten hours on each show-day, as well as several hours behind the scenes in the form of bookkeeping, organization, facility upkeep, meetings and communications, social media management, etc. For approximately 1-2 hours per week (estimated 5 percent of time). Several board members also personally donate funds for added earning opportunities including higher pay-out prizes and participation awards for the pee-wees. 3fbra does no other business other than that described above. Our focus is solely on our members and 3f's core values: faith, family, and friends. Producing these barrel races allows us to give back to our community, fellowship with our family and friends, and spread the gospel as much as we can.
