St. Francis healthcare system of hawaii offers a broad spectrum of health and social programs and services to create healthy communities. St. Francis currently offers hospice care in an inpatient facility, nursing homes, and in patients' homes; independent living, personal care services, including in-home bathing; adult day care; preschool; a spiritual retreat center for the community; and outreach to the homeless. St. Francis healthcare system is committed to making quality care accessible to the community by offering more options across the continuum of care. The st. Francis kupuna village at its liliha campus is hawaii's first comprehensive center, a one-stop source designed to meet the needs of hawaii's growing number of active seniors as well as older adults and their caregivers. Phase i was completed in fiscal year 2015, phase 2 was completed in fiscal year 2020 and phase 3 was completed in fiscal year 2021. As a geriatric center of excellence, it offers the finest clinical, social, spiritual and psychological care to enhance the quality of life for older adults and provide professional and peer support for caregivers. Through partnership agreements, st. Francis kupuna village offers a 119-bed skilled nursing facility and treatment for those with alzheimer's disease and related dementias as well as other neurological conditions. Also through partnership agreements, st. Francis kupuna village offers a 110-room assisted residential care home beginning march 2021. St. Francis kupuna village has a senior community center that offers health and wellness programs, caregiver education and training. Future services for the st. Francis kupuna village include an outpatient rehabilitation center, an on-campus bistro and adult day care.

St. Francis healthcare system of hawaii was not required to undergo an audit in accordance with the single audit act of 1984 and omb circular a-133, because its expenditures of federal contracts was less than $750,000 during the tax year. However, it was included in a consolidated single audit report, because two related entities in the consolidated group expended more than $750,000.

PART III, LINE 4:

The st. Francis collection of artwork was created to provide a harmonious and healthy environment for our staff, patients and visitors. In addition to commissioned works, the collection includes donated pieces including sculptures, mosaics, children's art and textile works.

PART X, LINE 2:

The following is the fin 48 (asc 740) footnote from the consolidated audited financial statements of st. Francis healthcare system of hawaii: except for enterprises, the system is comprised of not-for-profit organizations as described in section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code (irc), and are exempt from federal and state taxed on exempt purpose income pursuant to irc section 501(a) and the related hawaii revised statutes, respectively. The system is subject to federal and state taxes on its unrelated business taxable income. As of june 30, 2021 and 2020, the system has unrelated business net operating loss carrforwards of approximately $577,000 which expires from 2027 through 2031. The system believes it is more than likely that it will not realized the benefits of these unrelated business net operating loss carryforwards. Accordingly, a valuation allowance has been established for the entire amount. The system recognizes the effect of income tax positions only if it is more-likely-than-not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. The tax effects recognized in the financial statements from such a position are measured based on the largest amount that has a greater than 50 percent likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. Changes in recognition or measurement are reflected in the period in which the change in judgment occurs. Any interest or penalties related to unrecognized tax benefits are classified as income tax expenses. The system did not accrue for any interest or penalties on unrecognized tax positions as of june 30, 2021 and 2020.
