Under the act, the ccomtl is recognized as a territorial institution of sante quebec with its own board of directors, while the jewish general hospital remains a distinct legal entity (a grouped institution) attached to the ccomtl and following its organizational structure. Pursuant to the act, sante quebec delegates all powers related to research conducted within the ccomtl to its institution board of directors. The legal entity in question holds only the net assets of the jewish general hospital and assumes no liabilities; as the return is filed to maintain the tax-exempt status of the lady davis institute for medical research, it focuses on the hospital's net assets and research activities administered by the ccomtl under sante quebec's delegation. The ccomtl's board also serves as the board for each grouped institution under its jurisdiction, including the jewish general hospital.”
