Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part XII

The organization did not change its oversight process or selection process during the tax year.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Afidep has initiated the process of obtaining income tax exemption from authorities in kenya. Whilst the organisation does not have income tax exemption for the kenya operations, the organisation deals in activities which are not for profit and therefore the directors are of the view that the organisation would not be subject to tax. Directors have taken into consideration part ii section 3(2) of the income tax act and schedule 10 of the income tax act that exempts organisations that are established solely for the purpose of relief of poverty or distress of the public or for religion or education benefits of residents in kenya. In malawi, afidep was granted diplomatic status and is therefore exempt from tax. Therefore, no provision for current or deferred tax is recognised in these financial statements.

PART XII, LINE 4B - OTHER ADJUSTMENTS:

Loss on disposal of vehicle 36,003.
