“The mission of the whittier regional symphony is to enrich the cultural life of the community it serves through admission-free concerts, to expand the musical knowledge of youth and adults, and to provide an outlet for the talents of musicians in the greater southern california area through the performance of symphonic music.”

“The association offers four programs per year of symphonic music to the general population free of charge. In addition the association has a children's concert program to introduce local school children to music appreciation, as well as programs supporting instrumental music education in the schools. The association also conducts an annual young artist competition which provides scholarships to top performers. Young artist competition winners are invited back to perform as soloists with the symphony.”
