“The form 990 is prepared by the organization's outside public accounting firm based on information provided by management. Once a draft of the return is available, it is reviewed by management with any changes or revisions incorporated into the filing. The revised return is then submitted to the board of directors for their review and approval prior to submitting to the irs.”

“The conflict of interest policy applies to all elected and appointed members of as, including any family members or associated entities that possess a financial interest in activities related to their responsibilities. Determinations of whether a conflict exists are made by the executive director, with advice from campus legal counsel, upon written notification from the executive vice president. If an actual conflict is found, the executive director will recommend that the member recuse themselves from further discussions, deliberations, voting, or presence on the matter to avoid the conflict. Additionally, if a member knows of a possible or actual conflict involving another governing body member, they must disclose this information in writing to the executive vice president, who will follow the same procedures. If the conflict involves the executive vice president, disclosure should be made to a member of the executive cabinet, who will then inform the executive director. Violations of the conflict of interest policy, such as failing to disclose a possible conflict or ignoring directives to cease activities posing a conflict, will be reported to the judicial council by the executive director. The judicial council can recommend disciplinary actions, including notifying the member's appointing constituency of the violation, specifying the provisions of the policy that were violated, and recommending appropriate sanctions.”

“Officer compensation is outlined in the organization's stipend bylaws which are available on the asucr website. Any changes to the amounts are approved by the finance committee, legislative review committee and ratified by the organization's senate. All actions and decisions are documented contemporaneously in meeting minutes. The process described here was last completed in 2014.”
