World Institute of Pain

“The world institute of pain is a membership association consisting of physicians, organizations, and individuals who wish to foster opportunities for international learning and training for pain physicians in the most up-to-date technical procedures in interventional pain management. Membership in the organization is contingent upon compliance with the bylaws of the organization and maintenance of high moral and professional character. There are seven classes of membership: founding wip members, regular wip members, associate wip members, pain management center members, contributing members, honorary members, and life members.”

“Fipp members in good standing are eligible to participate in the nomination of candidates for the executive board when a call for nominations is initiated by the nominating committee. The nominating committee, which is the incumbent executive board, narrows the nominees to two candidates for each position and the ballot is presented to the wip council. The wip council consists of the executive board plus the 25 chairmen of wip's 25 officially-recognized sections. Only the wip council members participate in the voting process.”

“A copy of the form 990 is emailed, subject to receipt verification, to every voting board member before it is filed.”

“Conflict of interest policy is presented for formal review and approval every two years at the first board meeting of the new board. Disclosures are solicited and acknowledged at the beginning of each meeting. This process is monitored by the elected honorary secretary, who is a voting member, and the executive officer, who is not a voting member.”

“Compensation analyses are conducted annually to compare organizations with similar mission and asset strength using guidestar publications and independent searches of non-profit form 990s via www.foundationcenter.org. A random cost-of-living index search is also conducted via the internet to ascertain the customary annual adjustment for non-profits in the current year. Organizational performance of revenue-producing cost centers is also considered in determining adjustments to the compensation budget.”
