Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Pt VI, Line 11B

Form 990 is prepared by an independent cpa and is reviewed and approved by management and the audit committee of the board of directors. An electronic copy is provided to the entire board prior to filing.

Pt VI, Line 12C

A conflict of interest policy has been approved by the board of directors. A conflict of interest disclosure statement including a list of major vendors with whom the institute transacted business during the previous year is furnished annually to each director, officer and member of the executive staff of the institute. The forms are reviewed and signed by each member with any conflicts noted and returned to the staff member who handles board affairs.

Pt VI, Line 15A

The board has established a compensation committee of three board members to undertake review and determination of the proper compensation for the ceo position. In completing their task they used the format and procedure provided for by the irs for rebuttable presumption.

Pt VI, Line 15B

SEE Pt VI. Line 15a explanation, above.

Pt VI, Line 19

Governing documents, conflict of interest policies, and financial statements are available to the executive staff and the board of directors. Upon request from the general public, the institute will provide access to these documents as required by law.

Other

Part III, Line 4b cont'd - CDI ALSO PROVIDES CONTRACTED NPA SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT AND OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS AS WELL.

Other

Part III, Line 4a and 4b Additional Information- SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY(IDP AND LAUSD PROGRAMS)-SPEECH AND LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS DEVELOP FROM BIRTH, FOLLOWING DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES IN INFANCY AND CHILDHOOD. WHEN THESE SKILLS DO NOT DEVELOP WITHIN THE TIMEFRAME OR MANNER EXPECTED, THIS COULD SUGGEST THE PRESENCE OF A LANGUAGE DELAY OR DISORDER. CDI'S SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGISTS ARE EQUIPPED TO IDENTIFY THESE PROBLEMS AND CREATE INDIVIDUALIZED TREATMENT PLANS FOR FAMILIES.

Other

Occupational therapy (idp and lausd programs) - it is vital to equip children with the skills that they need to successfully perform daily life activities. Cdi's therapists approach difficulties related to feeding, play and socialization by enhancing fine and gross motor skills. Occupational therapy addresses underlying behavioral problems and developmental delays by making adjustments in the physical environment and by introducing sensory integration.

Other

Pt III, Lines 4a, 4b and 4c Additional Information: RELATIONSHIP-BASED BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (RBBT) (IDP, LAUSD AND ASP) BY COMBINING VARIOUS RELATIONSHIP-BASED TECHNIQUES, CDI MEETS THE NEEDS OF THE INDIVIDUAL CHILD AND SUPPORTS SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT. RBBT ALSO PROVIDES CHILDREN WITH THE SKILLS TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN RELATIONSHIPS. SOME OF THE TECHNIQUES USED INCLUDE INTENSIVE BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTION, PROBLEM BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT, SOCIAL SKILLS FACILITATION, FLOORTIME AND OTHER PLAY-BASED AND LEARNED ACTIVITIES.

Other

Parent support services (idp and asp) - therapuetic support groups enable parents to share their questions, concerns and successes with others in similar situations. This program also includes parent education seminars that address challenges like strengthening early communication, dealing with difficult behavior and setting boundaries.

IRS990/Desc0INFANT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM- THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE HAS A LONG TERM COMMITMENT TO INFANTS AND TODDLERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. FROM OUR INCEPTION WE HAVE STRIVED TO SUPPORT FAMILIES IN THEIR SEARCH AS THEY DEVELOP A NEW VISION FOR THEIR CHILD WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AND THE CHILD'S FUTURE IN THEIR COMMUNITY. EARLY, NURTURING RELATIONSHIPS ARE ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTORS IN A CHILD'S DEVELOPMENT OF A SENSE OF SELF AND OF OTHERS. HEALTHY SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT SHAPES A CHILD'S ABILITY TO COPE WITH STRESS AND MANAGE FEELINGS. CDI'S MENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT GUIDES AND SUPPORTS FAMILIES AS THEY BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR CHILDREN. SEE DUE TO COVID 19, MANY OF OUR SERVICES WERE OFFERED THROUGH TELEHEALTH AND SUPPORT GROUPS ON ZOOM. WHEN VACCINES WERE AVAILABLE, SOME CHILDREN WERE ABLE TO RETURN TO IN-PERSON SERVICES. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR ADDITIONAL PROGRAM INFORMATION.
