The musical theatre group guild (mtg), a non-profit membership company of theatrical professionals, is devoted to preserving the unique american art form of musical theatre - by presenting seldom-seen musicals, and by offering education for both the current and next generation of musical theatre audiences.

THE MUSICAL THEATRE GUILD (MTG) BEGAN IN JANUARY 1995. A GROUP OF 14 ACTORS AND SINGERS MET TO CREATE A GUILD FOR MUSICAL THEATRE ARTISTS, A FORUM WHERE THEY CAN SHOWCASE THEIR TALENTS AND PRESENT SELDOM-PRODUCED MUSICALS AT HOMES. FROM 1997-2018, 4-5 CONCERT STAGE READINGS WERE PRESENTED TO THE PUBLIC EACH SEASON ON A REGULAR BASIS AND MTG BEGAN TO RECEIVE ACCOLADES FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA'S THEATRICAL PRESS. IN 2006, MTG RECEIVED THE LA DRAMA CRITICS CIRLE'S MARGARET HARFORD AWARD FOR "SUSTAINED EXCELLENCE IN THEATRE".THE GUILD'S ARTISTS ARE A DIVERSE GROUP OF ALL AGES AND ETHICITIES, AND PARTICIPATION FROM A FULL RANGE OF CULTURAL GROUPS IS ACTIVELY ENCOURAGED. MTG ARTISTS ARE ALL PROFESSIONAL PERFORMERS, MEMBERS OF ACTORS' EQUITY ASSOCIATION, WORKING TOGETHER AS A REPERTORY COMPANY.THE MUSICAL THEATRE GUILD PERFORMED 4 DIFFERENT SHOWS FOR THE 2018-2019 SEASON (HIGH SOCIETY,HONEYMOON IN VEGAS, SUGAR, AND WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN). THE TOTAL AUDIENCE WAS AROUND 400 PAID VIEWERS PER PERFORMANCE.$250$97,875
MTG IS COMMITTED TO REACHING YOUNG AUDIENCES, IN ORDER TO DELIGHT AND EDUCATE THEM ABOUT THIS UNIQUE ART FORM.IN THE "HISTORY OF THE MUSICAL THEATRE", A CAST OF BROADWAY VETERANS TAKES STUDENTS ON A MUSICAL JOURNEY THROUGH THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. THE SHOW WAS PRODUCED FOR THE MUSIC CENTER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT.MTG ALSO PERFORMED SHOWS AT MANY DIFFERENT SCHOOLS WITH AN AVERAGE AUDIENCE OF 250-300 STUDENTS PER SHOW. TEACHERS RECEIVED PRE AND POST SHOW LESSONS COMPLYING WITH CALIFORNIA THEATRE ARTS STANDARDS. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM DIVERSE AREAS OF LA COUNTY ARE INVITED TO ATTEND PERFORMANCES AND DISCUSS THEATRE WITH GUEST ARTISTS WHO VISIT THEIR DRAMA CLASSES.WITH 19 PERFORMANCES IN 2018, MTG REACHED OUT AND IMPACTED AN ESTIMATED 5,700 STUDENTS IN 2018.$12,842$14,044
