CEO Compensation: The organization's board of directors sets compensation for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The board performs an annual review of the CEO's performance, reviews local non-profit compensation surveys, and decides in executive session on any increase in the CEO's annual salary. The deliberation and decision-making process is documented in the minutes of the board meeting. The CEO is responsible for setting the compensation of other employees using similar procedures. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Community In-Service Learning WorkshopsAccessing childhood cancer and other important health and well-being, and community-based resources is critical in affording a family an opportunity to manage and cope with the many stressors encountered throughout all stages of treatment. PADRES hosts, at no cost to participants, bilingual monthly learning workshops on a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to, access to healthcare assistance, community-based economic assistance, immigration counsel and emotional support services. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Lives in TransitionA childhood cancer diagnosis has a profound impact on the emotional well-being of patients and family members alike. Initially funded via a multi-year grant from the Lance Armstrong Foundation, these two weekend workshops are designed to educate families about childhood cancer and the ancillary emotional health concerns that are a natural consequence of the diagnosis. The program curriculum aims to coach families through the childhood cancer treatment process from diagnosis to survivorship. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Feria De ESPERANZASM (Hope Fair)This annual fair is designed to provide a unique educational forum for the entire family. Workshops include: age and family member-appropriate cancer education, age-appropriate general health & well-being education, stress management techniques, nutritional counseling, higher education counseling, community resource navigation, and health screenings. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: Blood & Marrow Donor DrivesTo donate blood is to grant a child the gift of life. PADRES works in close cooperation with Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Blood Donor Center, and the National Marrow Donor Program to educate the community on the importance of donating blood and registering with the National Marrow Donor Registry. Working in collaboration with prominent celebrities, community leaders, and media supporters, PADRES sponsors and coordinates quarterly blood and marrow donor drives.This program saves Childrens Hospital Los Angeles approximately $170,000 per year in blood product purchases. PADRES also registers approximately 500 new individuals a year, to the, Be the Match National Bone Marrow Registry.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Community In-Service Learning WorkshopsAccessing childhood cancer and other important health and well-being, and community-based resources is critical in affording a family an opportunity to manage and cope with the many stressors encountered throughout all stages of treatment. PADRES hosts, at no cost to participants, bilingual monthly learning workshops on a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to, access to healthcare assistance, community-based economic assistance, immigration counsel and emotional support services. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Lives in TransitionA childhood cancer diagnosis has a profound impact on the emotional well-being of patients and family members alike. Initially funded via a multi-year grant from the Lance Armstrong Foundation, these two weekend workshops are designed to educate families about childhood cancer and the ancillary emotional health concerns that are a natural consequence of the diagnosis. The program curriculum aims to coach families through the childhood cancer treatment process from diagnosis to survivorship. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Feria De ESPERANZASM (Hope Fair)This annual fair is designed to provide a unique educational forum for the entire family. Workshops include: age and family member-appropriate cancer education, age-appropriate general health & well-being education, stress management techniques, nutritional counseling, higher education counseling, community resource navigation, and health screenings. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: Blood & Marrow Donor DrivesTo donate blood is to grant a child the gift of life. PADRES works in close cooperation with Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Blood Donor Center, and the National Marrow Donor Program to educate the community on the importance of donating blood and registering with the National Marrow Donor Registry. Working in collaboration with prominent celebrities, community leaders, and media supporters, PADRES sponsors and coordinates quarterly blood and marrow donor drives.This program saves Childrens Hospital Los Angeles approximately $170,000 per year in blood product purchases. PADRES also registers approximately 500 new individuals a year, to the, Be the Match National Bone Marrow Registry.

The board performs an annual review of the CEO's performance, reviews local non-profit compensation surveys, and decides in executive session on any increase in the CEO's annual salary. The deliberation and decision-making process is documented in the minutes of the board meeting. The CEO is responsible for setting the compensation of other employees using similar procedures. Changes to employee compensation are documented in the individual employees' files.
