“Ucla black alumni association is registered as a functioning support group of ucla, and as such there could be decisions rendered by the governing body that are subject to approval by the compliance office of ucla. This is mainly by not limited to approval of the proper use of the ucla name and logo and certain events sponsored by the ucla black alumin association when charging the general public.”

“The treasurers reports and profit and loss statements are submitted to the president and all board members on a monthly basis by the treasurer. A year-end balance sheet and profit & loss summary is made available by the treasurer and certified accurate by the ucla black alumni association audit committee. These documents are then submitted to a certified tax preparer by the treasurer. The completed irs form 990, including the appropriate schedules and attachments are reviewed by the treasurer and audit committed for completeness and then sent to the board for final approval. Once approved, the form 990 is signed by the board chair and mailed to the irs. Signed copies are kept by the treasurer and archived and maintained by the general counsel. A finalized draft of form 990 is made available to the governing body for review before filing”

“All relevant documents, including updated bylaws, bank statements, and tax returns, are annually submitted to uclas compliance and tax retruns, are annually submitted to uclas compliance office as part of uclas requirements for support group status. Ucla makes documents available to the public through their normal policies and procedures. Also, a copy of the completed and signed irs form 990 is submitted to the california attorney generals chariable trust office and is made available on their website under ucla black alumni association.”
