Mission

Services for Seniors-The Mission of the Peninsula Shepherd Center is to provide a support system which helps to allow older adults to live independently and self-sufficiently in their homes for as long as possible, while providing opportunities to learn, to grow and to serve. Our Vision is a community that honors, respects and cares for older adults. A Shepherd Center is required to be ecumenical, operate in a defined geographic area, and not duplicate existing local services.The Peninsula Shepherd Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves seniors, 60 and older, in the Point Loma (92106), Ocean Beach (92107) and Midway/Sports Arena (92110) areas of the City of San Diego.

Other Programs--Hosted the Games Day fundraiser in June 2014, raising approximately $5,781; hosted 10 Movie Monday events with over 50 seniors attending, 12 Needlers knitting group sessions, and 12 Chat and Fold volunteer group sessions. PSC was granted $100,000 for the 2016-2017 SANDAG Senior Mini Grant.$85,426-
Out and About Peninsula--Transportation is the central part of the PSC services. It allows disabled seniors in the Peninsula area to live independently even though they are not able to drive themselves. Rides are often necessary for seniors to attend the PSC life enrichment programs and technology training classes we provide. During 2014, PSC provided 2,323 shuttle van rides, 98 wheelchair accessible shuttle rides and 2,516 volunteer rides for a total of 4,937 one-way rides.$20,495-
Volunteer Appreciation project to provide gift gas cards for our volunteer drivers and handymen--hosted 2 volunteer appreciation events in 2014, Ice Cream Social and Cookie Exchange, and participated in 6 San Diego County volunteer driver coalition meetings.$2,432-
Computer Classes--Hosted 5 sessions of beginner and intermediate computer classses in 2014, as well as one technology seminar.--
