“The north american basque organization ("nabo") conducts various programs that promote basque culture. A major basque program is the mus program which is a basque card game played as a team. Club winners compete in national and international tournaments, and the winners are then sponsored for competition at the international level. Another program is the pelota program. Pelota is the basque national sport, similar to hand ball, in which member clubs compete for trophies. Nabo participates as a member of the national pelota federation.”
