“Mission: To provide public benefit programs which inspire education and personal development through the Works of William Shakespeare relating to history, culture, literature, theater and art in America.General Information:The Shakespeare Society operates a museum, gift shop and learning center, which is located in a 2,400 square foot facility in Moss Landing, CA. The Museum is open to the public, at no charge, generally 7 days a week from 10 am-5 pm. Admission is free to the public. Daily tours are offered to walk-in visitors for no charge. A small fee is charged for larger school field trips, senior groups and special interest groups. SSA is listed as a Home School Educational Provider and many home school families visit the facility for educational programs The gift shop includes educational books and materials on Shakespeare life and times, plays and theater, artwork and greeting cards taken from reproductions of copy-right free Shakespeare artwork (taken from mostly 1800s books in the Collection).One full-time volunteer Director conducts all museum docent services and public benefit programs. Part-time volunteers assist with programs and operations. There are currently no paid positions.MuseumThe Museum Collection consists Artwork, Shakespeare Busts, Statues, Metals, Coins, Photographs, Theatrical Archives, Shakespearian Artifacts, Historical Treasures and Memorabilia items, as well as, a large eclectic collection of rare, and contemporary, items with themes centered around Shakespeare, Shakespeare Plays, Quotes, Characters, Life and Times.The SSA Library contains contemporary, as well as a rare books and reference collections, which feature over 3,000 historical and Shakespeare related books and journals on-site. An estimated 2,500 guests visited the museum during 2024. .In addition to the museum items on display in 2024, Special exhibits focused on Shakespeare Art and Shakespeare Flowers were featured in the museum. Docent led presentations included educational information centered on these topics for walk-in visitors, field trips and other special interest groups. .Special Educational EventsProgram services include docent led educational opportunities for the public and special interest groups. SSA is listed as a Home School Educational Provider.In 2024, group tours included school field trips, adult learning programs, autistic children, girl scouts, seniors and home school families. Costumes were lent to 2 schools for theater. SSA hosts an annual Shakespeare birthday celebration.”
“Line 38(a): Officer LoanOfficers Loan due to extraordinary events:After 35 years of operating The Shakespeare Society of America, Globe Playhouse, Museum and Research Library at 1107 N Kings Road in Los Angeles, CA, the SSA lost the lease on the facility in 2006.As a result, in an Emergency Board Meeting held Dec 26, 2006, the Board of Directors: Approved, and Society engaged, the services of an independent legal firm to address legal aspects resulting from the hostile termination of the Societys lease, landlord issues and legal action to secure and protect the Societys assets. Authorized loans from Officers/Directors and established terms in order to fund attorney fees, relocation costs and transition expenses, as necessary. .SSA Board Approval and Terms for Officer/Director LoansPurpose: To protect assets, fund relocation and transition expenses while building a self-supporting organization in a new location.SSA emergency Board meeting on December 26, 2006. RESOLUTION, to authorize and accept loans from Officers and/or Directors to fund relocation costs, essential expense necessary during transition to a new facility and interim operating expenses as required passed with unanimous approval.OFFICER AND/OR DIRECTOR LOAN TERMS: Approval of 6% simple interest with flexible repayment terms through the transition period.In September 2008, the Society reopened the Museum, Art Gallery, Theatrical Archives and Library in a storefront building located at 7981 Moss Landing Road, Moss Landing, CA As of 12/31/2024, loans from Officer/Directors Terry Taylor (CEO) and Sheila Taylor (CFO) totaled $295,247. No additional officer loans were made in 2024.No principal or interest was paid on officer loans during the period 2007-2024.”

The Museum is open to the public, at no charge, generally 7 days a week from 10 am-5 pm. Admission is free to the public. Daily tours are offered to walk-in visitors for no charge. A small fee is charged for larger school field trips, senior groups and special interest groups. SSA is listed as a Home School Educational Provider and many home school families visit the facility for educational programs The gift shop includes educational books and materials on Shakespeare life and times, plays and theater, artwork and greeting cards taken from reproductions of copy-right free Shakespeare artwork (taken from mostly 1800s books in the Collection).One full-time volunteer Director conducts all museum docent services and public benefit programs. Part-time volunteers assist with programs and operations. There are currently no paid positions.MuseumThe Museum Collection consists Artwork, Shakespeare Busts, Statues, Metals, Coins, Photographs, Theatrical Archives, Shakespearian Artifacts, Historical Treasures and Memorabilia items, as well as, a large eclectic collection of rare, and contemporary, items with themes centered around Shakespeare, Shakespeare Plays, Quotes, Characters, Life and Times.The SSA Library contains contemporary, as well as a rare books and reference collections, which feature over 3,000 historical and Shakespeare related books and journals on-site. Authorized loans from Officers/Directors and established terms in order to fund attorney fees, relocation costs and transition expenses, as necessary. .SSA Board Approval and Terms for Officer/Director LoansPurpose: To protect assets, fund relocation and transition expenses while building a self-supporting organization in a new location.SSA emergency Board meeting on December 26, 2006.
