“There is an Executive Committee whose members include the current officers and any past chairmen; the committee met regularly during the year.”
“This form 990 is reviewed by management and the members of the Boards Audit Committee and is shared with the Board. Following these reviews, the form 990 is sent to the full Board immediately before filing. The Board is provided with the names of the members involved in the aforementioned review process.”
“To implement the conflict of interest policy, board members of CADA submit annual reports in January indicating either that they have no conflicts of interest or that describe any potential conflicts. These reports are reviewed by the Executive Director and any potential conflict would be reported to the Finance Committee to be resolved. In the absence of resolution, the matter would be referred to the Board of Directors by the Finance Committee.”
“The Board of Directors through the Executive Committee conducts a bi-annual review of the Executive Director. CADAs Board Chair leads the review discussion. After review and approval of the Executive Committee, a summary of the review process is discussed at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting following the Executive Committee's review. The Board Chair reviews the Executive Directors performance evaluation with the Executive Committee and Board input with the Executive Director. Compensation is determined by two primary factors: i) review of Executive Director salaries at other non-profit agencies of comparable size and complexity and ii) performance evaluation of the Executive Director.”
“CADAs forms 990 are available upon request as well as on-line through guidestar.org and charitynavigator.org. CADAs governing documents, conflict of interest policy and audited financial statements are available to the public at the Organizations business with an advance appointment.”

“Youth Substance Abuse Treatment:Daniel Bryant Youth and Family Centers: CADAs Daniel Bryant Youth and FamilyCenters in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Lompoc, provide safe and effectiveoutpatient treatment for youth struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. CADAs programs for youth ages 10 to 19 offer a continuum of treatment services using evidence-based practices, based on the assessed needs ofeach youth. Each client receives an in-depth assessment of their treatment needs, including any co-occurring mental health disorders. Together, the therapist and client develop an individualized treatment plan. Treatment includes individual counseling, family therapy, group therapy, psychoeducation, and where appropriate, coordinated Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). In addition to serving youth enrolled in treatment, the Centers provide a place where families can drop in and seek help, which may include requesting drug testing, assessments, or referrals to other community resources. Parent education and support groups at the Daniel Bryant Youth and Family Centers improve parenting skills, family communication and parents knowledge of addiction in children and teens. CADA is the only nonprofit agency in Santa Barbara County offering Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT), an evidence-based and highly effective treatment considered the gold standard for adolescent substance abuse treatment.Youth Diversion Programs: CADAs Youth Diversion Programs encompass two separate but complementary offerings that both offer restorative opportunities rather than punishment for low-level community and school infractions. Youth EmpowermentServices (YES) is a program aimed at diverting youth from the juvenile justice system operated in partnership with the Santa Barbara County Probation Department and the University of California Santa Barbara. Teens and their parent(s) are referred to YES by a law enforcement or probation officer for offenses that qualify for a restorative justice program instead of being referred to the juvenile justice system. The program includes a wide variety of interventions to address mental health needs, substance abuse concerns, social/emotional skills, and help for families (parents, siblings). YES case managers help each participant develop a Restorative Action Plan. It can include a variety of classes; individual, group or family counseling; parent education and support groups; and community service/learning opportunities or tutoring. The plan can range from a few short classes to several months of weekly counselingsessions, depending on what the needs assessment tells us about what services willprovide the greatest benefit. YES case managers and therapists provide ongoingcoaching to each participant to help them meet their goals.Students can also be referred by their school for a full range of diversion services that can also include a Teen Court component. Teen Court is a peer review court available to youth when case managers determine that it is an appropriate option in addition to or in lieu of other diversion services. The client and their parents appear in front of a court that consists of a volunteer judge or local attorney, and a jury of teen peers who review the case and create a personalized, restorative sentence that holds the individual accountable for their actions. After this review, a sentencing agreement is developed using established guidelines. These agreements often include community service, service as a juror in future Teen Court cases, written letters of apology, written essays and creative projects, education classes and group sessions. The Teen Court agreement will also ensure that services are made available for clients with substance abuse issues, co-occurring mental health issues, as well as parent support and education for the parents of the youth referred for services.School-Based Counseling: CADA provides school-based counselors in elementaryand secondary scho”
