“OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: The Howard and Asian Art Collection is a museum-quality display of Asian artifacts housed at the Corporations Cherese Mari Laulhere Philanthropic Center. The Collection includes pieces accumulated by Walter and Margaret Howard and later transferred to Assistance League of Long Beach as the conservator. Docent-led tours are provided for Long Beach Unified School District students as an integral part of seventh-grade curriculum. In fiscal year 2022, tours were cancelled due to the pandemic. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Other programs include the following: Assault Survivor Kits provide wear-home clothes to survivors of sexual assault when police keep their clothing as evidence. Kids on the Block is an educational classroom program that uses nearly life-size puppets to address social, behavioral and cultural concerns affecting today's children and youth. Adopt a Family provides families with gifts, food and decorations during the holiday season.ALa Carte delivers a creative bedside art program to young patients at Miller Children's Hospital.”

“A significant portion of the Corporation's functions and programs are conducted by unpaid volunteers and volunteer board members. The value of this volunteer time is not reflected in the accompanying information return. During the year ended May 31, 2022, these volunteers donated approximately 52,388 hours with a value of $1,556,971 computed using the hourly rate of $25.84 for nonagricultural workers during the period, as determined by the U.S. Department of Labors Bureau of Labor Statistics, plus 15 percent for estimated fringe benefits.”
