“There are three categories of membership: 1. Active members - all active members must have graduated with a clinical certificate from a psychoanalytic institute approved by the american psychoanalytic association (apsa), the international psychoanalytic association (ipa), or with equivalent training determined by the membership committee. 2. Associate members - 3 sub-categories: a) clinical associate -all members receiving clinical training in the center's division for psychoanalytic training (the institute). B) psychoanalytic associate - all members who have satisfactorily completed all four years of seminar training from a psychoanalytic institute associated with apsa or ipa or from an institute with substantially equivalent training but who choose not to pursue the clinical requirements for graduation. C) psychotherapy associate - all members who are psychotherapy practitioners and who have successfully completed the center's two-year psychotherapy training program(s) or have equivalent training as determined by the membership committee. 3. Affiliate members - include honorary members, psychotherapy affiliates, corresponding members, inactive members, professional affiliates and friends of psychoanalysis.”

“Subject to applicable law and any limitations in the articles of incorporation and these bylaws relating to action required to be approved by the members. I. Dissolution of the center; ii. The merger with another organization; iii. The sale of the property at 2014 sawtelle boulevard, los angeles; iv. The gift, sale, or custodial transfer of any historically important documents, pictures, or memorabilia previously owned by lapsi, scps, or scpi; v. The amendment of the articles of incorporation; vi. Other matters deemed of sufficient importance by the board of directors to require the approval of a majority of the membership eligible to vote.”
