“The classes of members include a president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and four elected delegates from each industry and division and approximately 25,000 members.”

“The organization will provide all members of the governing board with a copy of the form 990 via e-mail. The form 990 was reviewed by the executive director and treasurer prior to filing with the irs.”

“The local has identified one person to be the ethics liason to work with our international's ethics ombudsman. The ethics liason is trained every year by the international and brings the training back to the local. The ethics liason uses the international's ethics ombudsman as a resource to deal with ethical questions and pro-actively obtain policies every employees are pro-actively trained and tested on the ethics of the organization and how to spot a conflict of interest. Afterwards, staff are required to sign a certification that they will abide by the code of ethics. New staff are trained on ethics and conflict of interest and then required to pass a test every year. Managers are required to disclose any conflict of interests by completing a conflict of interest form. Staff are trained to know the name of the ethics liason and are encouraged to contact the ethics liason if they think unethical behavior or a conflict of interests exists. Executive board members are required to go through the same requirements as managers every year. They also are trained and must also complete a conflict of interest form and sign a certification that they will abide by the code of ethics. The ethics liason staffs the ad hoc policy committee to ensure that policies abide by the code of ethics set forth by the international. The ethics liason also attends all the executive board meetings, affording executive board members the opportunity to contact the liason if they think unethical behavior or a conflict of interest exists. The local completes a "certification of completeness and accuracy and "certification of compliance" provided by our international union which verifies that the certain documents are complete and accurate, been filed with our international union, and have been provided to our governing board irsform 990, department of labor lm-2 report, annual audit report and management letter. Together with the staff and members we are building a culture that enables ethical behavior to be practiced and encouraged.”
