Form 990, Part III

I.c.a.r.e. Dui program: ----------------------- the dui program is a state-licensed drinking drivers program provided through csa's contract with riverside university health system - behavioral health, providing court-mandated individual and interactive group counseling sessions, promoting sobriety and responsible driving. In 2019, 312 participants enrolled in these programs. The dui program helps bring stability, self-sufficiency and positive changes through educating on the consequences of dui. This program educates, motivates, and increases awareness of the benefits of sobriety in order to improve the lifestyle of program participants. As a result of covid-19, the entire program was shifted online to a virtual platform where clients could pay for their classes online and continue to receive the services needed to complete the program requirements. The association ended the 2020 year with 222 clients. Bettering every student for tomorrow (b.e.s.t.): ------------------------------------------------ after-school program designed for students from k8th grade providing free tutoring, character building activities, fun and recreational activities, and civic engagement opportunities. Students benefit from academic skills development and social learning. Through the b.e.s.t. Program, students are able to improve their reading levels, math skills, and receive exposure to science and arts projects. These opportunities are not always available to children in underserved communities. In addition, the summer program allows students to maintain their current reading level over the summer in preparation for the fall. As a result of covid-19, this program was shifted to a virtual setting where academic support and tutoring was provided as was in-person. For the year 2020, the association was able to provide a total of 2,987 service units to 55 unduplicated students through the program. Of these, 51% of students finished at or above their reading grade level. Food pantry program: -------------------- designed to help mitigate the growing food insecurity in the city of riverside. Unhealthy food choices and low income are among the social determinants of health that, over time, increase the risk of chronic disease. The food pantry program helps to address these risk factors by providing healthy food options to mitigate the effects of economic stressors that are often placed upon low-income families. The food pantry program provides groceries to families two days a week. Food bags contain at least 50% produce in accordance with usda guidelines. Specialty vegetarian and vegan option are available to clients. In addition, food bags are put together for families with access to cooking facilities and non-cooking bags for the homeless population that lack access to cooking facilities. As a result of covid-19, the program was moved to an outdoor setting on a walk-through basis. Additionally, in mid-april 2020, the association began a contactless food delivery service for elderly clients and other high-risk clients that are unable to physically come to the food pantry. All deliveries are within the greater riverside area. For the year 2020, the association was able to provide 5,880 bags of food to community members in need of which 5186 were for those with cooking facilities and 589 non- cooking, including 76 vegan diet bags and 29 vegetarian diet bags.
